EWI internationally has been extremely active for many years in adult and child Literacy. For over a decade, EWI of Detroit-Windsor has partnered with the Dominican Literacy Center (for adults) and has adopted two elementary schools in Detroit & Windsor, holding annual reading rallies for underprivileged children in our community.

This year's Reading Rally theme is "Lights! Camera! Action! Be a Reading Star!" Red Carpet event and will be held in September and October, where elementary children in the second grade and above will have the opportunity to participate in fun and exciting reading activities with daily reading goals and prizes.

The Chapter's Literacy Committee is now filling the "EWI BUS" by collecting books and prizes for the event. Please be a part of this important mission by bringing in new (or gently-used) books and other wish list items: decorative pencils, crayons, markers, journals, kleenex, scissors, glue, glitter pens, etc. Feel free to add any fun and creative items you think the children would enjoy.
